I only knew Alice as a girl from the old neighborhood in Rockledge, at Cocoa High and some at FSU. But, I especially recall one long Greyhound ride to Tallahassee after a holiday break at home. We were seatmates for the trip and I remember discovering a person of great intellect and charm. We talked for hours and she managed to convert a tiresome episode into a very happy experience.
