Not sure what to say?

A great lady to have had the pleasure of knowing and living next to at Park Shore. Barbara & Jerry Lewis

Our childhood days in Douglas were richer with the loving influence of our neighbors, Alice and Val Poor, and each of their wonderful children. We so wished we had been at the memorial service today as you each lovingly honored your mother. We carry and treasure you in our hearts. Rebecca, Bunny, and Butch Bennett.

I will always remember your mom's warm smile. I was blessed to have her in my church family.

I see her being greeted by people who cared for her on Earth in Heaven. Claudia Kelsey with her joyful smile, Esther Olson with a beautiful song and Sig Olson with a comment about what a beautiful day it is. Your dad is there with a big hug and a hankie to dry your mother's tears at leaving behind her loved ones.

With heartfelt sympathy to the family for this loss. The Bible assures us of where our loved ones are and gives a wonderful hope that is in store for them in the future.

We now have another beautiful angel in heaven looking down on us. Alice was a kind, gracious and beautiful lady!!! Her best accomplishment is her wonderful 3 sons and daughter!!! God broke or hearts to prove to us he only takes the best!!!

Alice was a wonderful, friendly and loving person. I always loved seeing her and Val at the Douglas Post Office. She was a gracious lady. Rich and family I am sorry for your loss. She is in good hands. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Marti Bernardez/Douglas.

So many memories of her generosity to our Girl Scout group activities in Douglas, a lovely lady.

One of the most beautiful and gracious women I have known. Alice and Val were my parent's best friends for many years beginning in the late 1940's and whether it was being an awesome hostess, giving neighbor, cheerful postmaster, fabulous mother, wonderful wife, dedicated church volunteer, outstanding fisher woman, committed friend, strong community organizer, devoted grandmother, and so much more---she always gave it her very best and was--- along with her husband and my parents-- a...

I, too remember Alice Poor and her family with love. First met her at the drugstore in 1957 where she was so helpful to a newcomer to Alaska. I also remember her (and Val) well from Eastern Star where we were both members and officers. She was a lovely person--as much of the tapestry of Douglas history as the Treadwell Mine. (I also remember Richie being my little paperboy, and Dana as a teen on stage at a Douglas Halloween Fair in a swim suit!) Many nice memories.
