Alice St. John Obituary
Tallahassee - Alice St. John passed away on January 1, 2018, at her home in Tallahassee, Florida. Alice was born in Bowman, Georgia on August 30, 1926 to Joseph E. and Lucile Wickliffe and grew up in Athens, Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and graduated with a business degree. While attending college, she met her husband James Thomson St. John, to whom she was married until his passing in 1991. She worked as a Student Affairs Coordinator in the Dean's office of the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida State University for over thirty-five years.
Alice is survived by her children James (Jimbo) St. John, Jr. (Kim) of Tallahassee, FL; Wick St. John (Angela) of Gillsville, GA; Luci Carella (Tommy) of Tallahassee, FL; Jonelle St. John (Steve Zielenski) of Middleburg, VA; and Julie Thornton (Tom) of Coral Gables, FL ; and her sister, Jo Hines of Columbia, SC. She was predeceased by her sister Billie Wickliffe. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Paxton St. John, Jodi St. John, Jaimi St. John, Sarah St. John, Ben St. John, Amy Thompson, Catherine Carella, Lee Carella, Paul Zielenski, Ryan Thornton and Clay Thornton, and 4 great grandchildren, Maddie St. John, Harper Thompson, Gillian Thompson and Nina Thompson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 20th at Roselawn Cemetary, 843 Piedmont Dr., Tallahassee. A reception will follow at the home of Mrs. St. John on Buck Lake Road.

We will miss that smiling, dear face at Chelsea!! We absolutely loved seeing how much Alice enjoyed visiting with my staff! We are so fortunate to have had that special time with her! As a great friend of my mother's, Alice was a wonderful part of my childhood. I have many happy memories of her at her dinner table, playing in her yard, taking family vacations to Beacon Hill beach each summer. All with her big happy family. Alice and Jimmy hosted my wedding rehearsal dinner on their screened porch and Alice helped to prepare food and serve at our wedding reception. She was like a second mom to me throughout my childhood. The best memory of all is of her infectious laugh. No matter what happened - and a lot did, Alice seemed to always find a way to laugh. Alice was a true and committed friend to our family. She blessed us immensely. Much love to the entire St John family. I know you miss her already!
