Allan was my first cousin, but in the 1960s and 1970s when I lived in Manhattan he was like a brother, even attending my sister's funeral in the midwest to offer moral support. He introduced me to such NYC landmarks as Barney Greengrass (borscht with fresh cream), Zabar's (whitefish, sable, and sturgeon), and Peter Luger's, whose steak sauce I still use. I think I last saw him at a family reunion a quarter-century ago, but I shall miss him nonetheless.

Allan has been a client since 1986 but more important a dear friend. We shared common interests as professionals and the biggest thing, we both wear hats. He gave me a few great hats over the years.
I will miss him. My deepest sympathies to Mary and the entire family.

Allan/PopPop/Father was a Great Man, of incredible professional career success, and, patriarch of an amazing family&circle of close friends. He Loved&Cherished "The Light of His Life", wife, MaryShapiro, and his family to the fullest extent. This was his mantra, as he Loved&Respected, as well, everyone in his life, whether that person was family, long time friend/colleague, or, stranger he met 1x in passing only. He treated everyone as if they were the most important person to him(and they were/are). He's missed equally by friends, family, former colleagues and competitors, as well, those he met briefly, in his wondrous and incredibly rich and well lived life. We're all kind of lost sheep/lost puppies in his absence. However, we all know we're better individuals for having Allan in our lives. If we all do our part to live our lives in much the same fashion&manner AllanMShapiro did, this world will always&still be beneficial&prosperous to as many possible, going forward,in the future. I'm thankful&grateful to have been able to call him BestMan, Friend&Father for nearly 47years. He'll be&is already missed more than words can define. I Love You, GoodSir! May You RIP&have fun(productive life)in HE#VEN, PopPop! May G#D AlwaysBlessYou.

Allan was a dear friend whom I had the pleasure of knowing and working with for nearly 30 years. A mentor with a gentle wit and kind heart, he will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to his family, but I know we will all see Allan again in a better place.
