When Dr. Becker called me to come from New York to inverview for an English Dept. opening, I did very much feel that St. Catherine's was indeed my vocation, and I was delighted to answer the call. Allen was such a gentleman, so thoughtful and caring. He was my hero.

I have lovely memories of Dr. and Mrs Becker. They provided kind-hearted guidance to a no dobt challenging array of young ladies at Saint Catherine's. Being South Carolinians, my family had a special affinity for Dr. Becker as he was a graduate of both Dreher High School and the University of South carolina. My father was a few years behind him at both schools and remembered him well. My family's deepest sympathies and prayers of comfort to all of you.

Dr. Becker was a wonderful headmaster while I attended St. Catherine's. He retired the same year I graduated and was always a warm, kind person. He had a great smile and certainly kept my 1989 class "in line" as we ventured through our senior year. He will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers to his family. Kristen Vilseck Scott '89

Dr. Becker was so committed to St. Catherine's and the girls that attended. I look back and greatly appreciate all that he did to try to help us make good decisions and to grow into women of character. My prayers are with his family.

How I cherished Allen and Elizabeth. They were my beacons, confidants, and wonderful teachers at St. Catherine's. His leadership was extraordinary and self-effacing. I will never forget his kindness and compassion towards me after a family death when I was a boarder. And I will never forget the respect and commitment to change that he demonstrated when a group of students protested against the more subtle forms of racism practiced at St. C's. His faith, life, and leadership are an...
