Altha Wilson Sims WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Altha Wilson Sims, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Reverend Robert Ward. Entombment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to East Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1213 Hazelwood Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Mrs. Sims passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013. Born in Spartanburg County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert Nesbit Wilson and Daisy Wilson. She was retired from the S.C. Department of Mental Health. She attended Airport Assembly of God Church for many years. Mrs. Sims was a very devoted Christian. She was a loving wife and sister who cherished her family. Survivors include her sister, Estelle Barlow of Lexington; brothers, Vernon Wilson (Vivian) of Chesnee, Wayne Wilson (Rachel) of Tryon, NC, Frank Wilson (Donna) of West Columbia and David Wilson of Inman; also many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Robert Sims; sisters, Esther Ingle and Avis Griggs, and brothers, Carl Wilson, Marvin Wilson and Howard Wilson.
