Not sure what to say?

I never actually worked with Alvin, being at a different institution, but he still became a mentor simply by sharing patients over the years and going to Mt Sinai for conferences. He was wonderful teacher of both humanity and science, and a friend. His approach to caring for patients- straightforward, logical, and with great knowledge and experience was coupled with kindness and caring. A model for all physicians who knew and loved him.

We shall remember Al always as a dear friend, mentor ,superb teacher and physician and above all a lovely person ,a real Mench!I will cheris his memory allways

I never worked at Sinai, but still had a great deal of contact with Alvin. The finest of men, brilliant and a model of what a physician should be for all who knew him.

Dr Teirstein.
After all these years I never have forgotten your words to me at your office visit with me in 2011.
You were the core of me staying alive all these years.
I ask you to please keep me alive as I want to stay on this earth.
You are truly an angel. You were such a Doctor who opened up your heart and mind for my care.
I miss you.

Kindness and excellence always, in helping his fellowmen and women.

Because it takes away someone we love and causes us pain, death is an enemy. However we can turn to God for comfort. I hope this thought in Psalm 55:22 proves a comfort to you.

To the Family of Dr. Alvin Teirstein:

It is with extreme sorrow that I acknowledge the passing of Dr.Alvin Teirstein. It is difficult to accept that he is no longer with us and available to prescribe treatment for his patients and to inspire his colleagues and students with his knowledge, devotion and enthusiasm. I still picture him in his offices at Mount Sinai and presiding at the Sarcoidosis Support Group meetings where he was so informative, and tirelessly answered...
