Our dearest Amanda, of the sparkling eyes and beautiful smile, departed this earth on May 18, 2008 after a courageous and spirited battle with cancer. Amanda was born in Bermuda on September 17, 1964. Her family relocated in 1975 to Raleigh, where she graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School....

Keith & Val: Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

To Mandy's family, I remember Mandy best as a sparkling. beautiful, talented, tennis player at Gibbons. She was my daughter Barbara Lemmons' tennis partner. Mandy had a personality that was unforgetable . Even though I didn't know her as an adult, these happy memories of her linger with me. We can celebrate her life that included so many wonderful and diverse activities. Her determination and courage in a long battle should be an inspiration for us all-she never gave up. Pat Lemmons

I am sorry to say that I did not know your Amanda. What a wonderful woman it sounds like she was in so many many ways. I am one of co-chairs of Raleigh RoundUp held in November here in Raleigh benefitting the American Cancer Society and know we work to raise money to fund research and programs for those like Amanda who suffer with Cancer. We are honored to do so in memory of those like Amanda. Please know your family and her Global Knowledge family is in my thoughts and prayers. Take care.

Do not Stand at my Grave and Weep/ Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circled fight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not...

Well this is one of the hardest things I have had to write. Amanda was a special part of my Gibbons memories and my youth.

When she moved back to Raleigh, her daughter Melanie had opportunities to babysit my children so Amanda and I could go out and be high schoolers all over again (legally this time).

To Karen her dear sister, having four sisters of my own, I can not imagine your pain. The loss of one of my sisters would be a loss greater then words can describe. I...

You will always live in our hearts and prayers. CGHS Class of 1982

To Amanda's family,
I went to high school with Amanda Jane and want you to know that you have been and will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I know you will have the strength to overcome this tragedy of a wonderful life cut so short. Know that Amanda Jane is in heaven looking down and she will send you the strength you need.
God bless you all,
Andrea Ostendorf Smith

Dear Byer and Rothschild families,

My deepest and sincerest sympathies to you all. Amanda (Mandy as I knew her in high school) was a beautiful person and I can still so vividly see her laughing in class. Our loss is Heaven's gain and I'm sure she's making them laugh there too. She was a bright light in our class and a friend to all. May Our Lord comfort all of you in this difficult time.
