After retiring, Mr. McManus moved his church membership to Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Seminole, Florida. He participated in missionary work through his church that took him to Puerto Rico in the early 1980's and later assisted with missionary work in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew in south Florida. Mr. McManus retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1980 and later moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where he happily spent his retirement years. He had many wonderful friends both in Charlotte, NC and Florida.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the wonderful nurses and volunteers of Harris Hospice Unit of Presbyterian Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harris Hospice Unit of Presbyterian Hospital, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233 or to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 9530 Starkey Road, Seminole, Florida, 33777.

July 24, 2007

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you adjust to the void left in your life by your Dad. No bond is greater than that of a parent and child. He was very special and meant so much to so many people.
When we think of your Dad, we remember how proud he was of you and what a joy you were to him. We especially remember Thanksgiving 2005, with him sharing the history of the old home which sat on your property years ago. He looked great sitting in that plaid chair at your house. We know you will miss him and so shall we. We love you. Charlie and Ellen
