Anatole Shub Obituary

SHUB, ANATOLE

On Sunday, July 2, 2006 in Washington, DC. Journalist, author and expert on Russian affairs. Born May 19, 1928 in New York City, he was the Washington Post's foreign correspondent in Bonn, Moscow and Paris 1964-1971. News director of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Munich from 1972-74, he later joined the U.S. Board for International Broadcasting and the State Department where he supervised U.S. foreign broadcasting, and the U.S. Information Agency where he conducted public opinion surveys on democracy and evolving political values across Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union. Cherished father of Rachel and Adam; loving grandfather to Carla and Alexander and doting father-in-law to Maria del Carmen. Friends will be received at JOSEPH GAWLERS SONS, INC., 5130 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington, DC on Thursday, July 6 at 12:30 p.m.
