I went to high school and college with Angela. We first met in high school through our older sisters. Even though it has been about 26 years since we last saw each other, she was a wonderful person. When I saw her picture again, it felt like yesterday that I just saw her. A beautiful picture. I saw that the guest book closes today. I just want to let Angela's parents know how I feel.

I just learned, but I don't really know what happened, and can't get my mind around the fact that it happened that it happened at all.
I knew none of the people in her life, so I can't offer anything except. "I'm sorry for you troubles."
And I'm also sorry I can offer so little.

Wow Angela, I still can't believe you have left us. Thank you so much for sharing yourself and your beautiful gift of Tai Chi with us at EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care in Harlem.
You were always so humble when I told you that your class was THE most popular one. So gracious when I shared with you that people had signed up weeks in advance just so they could take your class.
You really had such a quiet and powerful soul. You showed us how to get in touch with our bodies in order to relax our minds.
Please know that you are loved by so many. I often heard so many heart felt compliments from our guests who took your class and how wonderful you made them feel.
All of us at Neighborood Care miss you dearly. I am glad we were able to share a warm hug recently. I will miss your smile, your energy and desire to help others.
Thanks for being such a light in our lives. Namaste

Angela you were always such a dignified, humble dynamo of a woman. Someone to look up to and feel blessed to know. You always asked how I was doing, reaching out with a warm smile and embrace. Selfless and loving. I will miss you always. Fly with the angels Angela.

Angie- while I have not seen you since February 1983 I have thought of you often- especially that meeting, on a bus to Syracuse NY. You were with Frank Cosentino. I had just lost my grandfather, but was going to DC for a meeting (at his request). You and Frank were the second of three G'd moments for me in a 24 hour period. It was if G'd put people from my childhood in my path to remember I was not alone. May your memory be for a blessing, Dear Angie.

You were always so kind to your awkward little cousin. Growing up, I looked for your face at gatherings as a bobbing panga looks for calm waters. You were so beautiful and so cool. I remember you sharing with me in your NYC flat your passion for meditation and herbal teas, which gave you a sense of peace. May you rest in peace. I love you.

Always a little further; it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Across that angry or that glimmering sea..."

Angie,
it is very unfortunate that you were snatched at your peak, with a whole life ahead of you. You were a great cousin to my dad, and a great member of the Wu family. Now that you are gone, I regret never getting to talk to you. We will miss you greatly, and we will never forget you. Good bye Angie.

When I was growing up, attending family events, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the like, I remember admiring Angie from a distance. I think I was subconsciously beginning to register the internalized deficiencies of being Asian in the United States, and Angie seemed to represent an ideal to me, someone to look up to. She was beautiful; to me, she didn't exhibit any of the awkwardness or embarrassment that informed my growing up at that time. Later on, when I became a young adult and arrived in New York City, Angie became a different template for me living in the Big City – young, independent, cosmopolitan. I remember her recounting a story of how she and a friend of hers were held up at gunpoint on the subway (I pictured graffiti and trash strewn over the desolate train car, she returning from some avant garde art show), but I interpreted it more as a badge of authenticity, that she was a part of the city in those bad old days, before the Whole Foods, baby strollers and bike lanes that have taken over this tamer metropolitan. As I got to know her, we connected through our shared interests, whether it was through community organizing in Chinatown, or the CSA at 6th St Community Center, where over kohlrabi and beets, Angie, and Annette and Howard from 6th St spoke excitedly about projects they were jointly working on, their passion for clean food and health mingling with the fresh produce around us. I saw her again briefly last year, and now I wish that I could have reached out to her then and had been more there for her. I'll miss you Angie.
