Feerick Funeral Home - Shorewood Obituary

Ann L. Gallagher entered Heaven on June 2, 2021, leaving a bevy of friends and family members who will never forget her vivacious personality, intellectual curiosity, love of reading and willingness to listen with kindness and understanding.

Ann was born on July 3, 1948 in Rock Island Illinois but spent most of her life in Milwaukee where her father was Head of Sales for Evinrude and Johnson motors, a job that involved much domestic and foreign travel in which Ann was permitted to share.

After graduating from University School of Milwaukee, she received a BA in Art History at Bucknell University and an MA in Special Education at Cardinal Stritch University.  She worked as a teacher at the Gaenslen School for the Disabled, was a Team Manager of special education teachers for the Milwaukee Public Schools System, and was an Instructor of Special Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Ann served on the Boards of University School of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, the Junior League of Milwaukee, the North Shore Library and the Children’s Service Society.  She was awarded the Alum of the Year Award by University School and the Distinguished Service Award by the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre.

God blessed Ann and her husband, Richard, with two amazing daughters, Elizabeth (Christopher) Gallagher Petree of Chapel Hill NC and Catherine (Jonathan) Gallagher Brown of Chicago IL, as well as four wonderful grandchildren, Olivia and Henry Richard Petree and Teddy and Hannah Brown.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist at 11 AM on June 15, 2021 followed by a reception.   Instead of flowers gifts in Ann’s name to Our Lady of Mercy Church in Boca Grande FL or Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee might be considered.
