Anne Strickler Zucker
December 31, 1928 - December 20, 2020
Raleigh, North Carolina - Anne S. Zucker, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Rosewood Health Center at the Cypress of Raleigh after a long battle with dementia. Anne was born in Raleigh on December 31, 1928 to the late Charles and Vivian Strickler. A lifelong Raleigh resident, she attended Broughton High School and was an alumna of Peace College class of 1948.
Anne was an avid golfer. As a Lady Bird, she made a hole in one with her favorite Titleist 3 golf ball on hole #6 on the Lakes Course at North Ridge Country Club. Her beautiful yard on hole #16 at NRCC was another passion, and she did her best to keep it as lovely as the green's superintendents kept the golf course.
The water drew Anne. She loved the beach and the lake. At Lake Gaston she spent her time water skiing and socializing with her friends. In her youth she strolled the beach with her Aunt Dottie, sister, Marie, and friends. It was at Atlantic Beach, NC where she met the love of her life, Bobby, her husband of nearly 60 years. You could find her spending time at the ocean be it Atlantic Beach or her winter condo in Highland Beach, Fl. in later years.
Anne had a fun and vivacious way about her which made her many friends, some lifelong friends. She enjoyed casual entertaining of friends and business acquaintances. The dedication and loyalty to her husband helped him grow a successful family business while caring for and rearing their three children. The pride in her children and fierce love of her grandchildren made her cherish every moment she spent with them.
Anne is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bob Zucker; daughter Vickie Goldman and husband, Doug of Dunwoody, GA; son Rob Zucker and wife, Elizabeth of Raleigh, NC; and son David Zucker and wife, Tonya of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren: Alan, LeeAnne, Benjamin, Madeline, Thomas, Jacob, Ashley, and Michael; and her sister Marie Barney of Altamonte Springs, Florida.
A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 11:00 am at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC.
