Annette Smith Obituary

SYLACAUGA - Visitation for Annette Williams Smith, 72, will be Thursday, Aug. 12, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. Mrs. Smith graduated from Sylacauga High School and attended Auburn University. She worked with the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce, was secretary for Congressman Bill Nichols, she owned Merle Norman Studio for some 15 years and then returned to the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce as Membership Coordinator. She was Customer Relations Representative at First Federal Bank and Alabama Trust Bank until her retirement. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Lamar E. Smith of Sylacauga; son, Scott E. Smith of Nashville, Tenn.; and sister, Sue Butler of Tampa, Fla. Family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to the Sylacauga Boys Club at 412 West Pine Street, Sylacauga, AL 35150. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com. Radney-Smith Funeral Home will direct the service.

Annette was a dear friend through our school years. I will always treasure my memories of our high school years Class of '55. I'm so glad I was able to see her at our high school reunion in July. I send my sympathy to all of the family.

My deepest and sincere condolences goes out to the family of Mrs. Annette Williams Smith. Annette was a wonderful woman classy a woman with self esteem. She taught me to take a stand for your beliefs and to be strong against your enemies. I had the great pleasure of meeting Annette and working amongst her before retirement. She will greatly be missed not only by her family but also friends of Sylacauga. I am very thankful to be amongst Annette throughout her journey.
