Please Pardon the late response from:
The Naismith international basketball foundation.

When Dr. Naismith created this amazing game. He never envisioned it how powerful it has become! Basketball has demolished racism especially back when Red was in the thick of it! Dr. Naismith could not be more honored and humbled on how Red made sure the guidelines of life resembled the game he loved so much! His Passion for human life went beyond borders and and courtrooms and especally basketball courts. His amazing style of making sure that you understood what he said and did what he said is why we have so many banners but more important such a huge loving Celtic/basketball family!

Growing up in boroughs of Boston as a kid I would have never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be in the same circle of greatness! It truly is blessing and an honor!

Getting ready to light up #18 for you RED- that cigar will be blazing RED all across the yahd! Not only is Dr. Naismith next to Red, but Mr. Ian Naismith and his beautiful wife Renee´ who founded this foundation devoted their lives to making sure that the guidelines that RED-lived by. Are still here in place and will never ever wither! Mr. Auerbach sorry I didn´t meet you in person sir! But just like we do every day here in the foundation we live by being "STRONG IN BODY-CLEAR IN MIND & LOFTY IN IDEALS "is why I know you are always by my side!

Vallas con Dios!
Respectfully,
PRESIDENT

Nancy, I want to offer my deepest condolences on your father's passing. I know how close you were to him and remember fondly our discussions about the Celtics and your dad while we were working on Capitol Hill. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I ALWAYS ADMIRED HIM AS A KID. HE MADE ME A BETTER COACH. WHEN YOU BEAT HIS TEAM,YOU DID A GOOD JOB. THE NBA WAS REALLY EXCITING DURING HIS WATCH. MR. AUERBACH SHOWED A COACH COULD DO IT ALL- NO NEED FOR A BUS LOAD OF ASSISTANTS. AN ERA LOST FOREVER.MY DAD LOVED CIGARS AND ALSO WAS IN THE NAVY. MAY RED REST IN PEACE. HE WILL ALWAYS BE WATCHING THE CELTICS.

Nancy and Randy,
So sorry for your loss. He was such a great man. I'm sure you are comforted by the legacy that he leaves. It was my pleasure to help take care of him when he was sick at Sibley before. I have passed along the sad news to Bill Werber and his father Bill senior in Charlotte. They send their condolences as well.

To the Auerbach Family: Sorry for your loss. In honor of Red, this longtime Celtics fan lit up a cigar on Saturday night upon hearing the news. The late, great Jackie Robinson once said: "A life isn't significant except for its impact on other lives." From the tributes I've read over the past couple days, it's clear that Red lived this kind of life. Thanks, Red, for 89 years. Indeed, a life of great significance.

Red will watch The "Celts" do "basketball battle" from on high! Boston will never see a sports leader of his caliber again. They should rename the "garden", "THE RED"

TO THE AUERBACH FAMILY,

I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF WATCHING AND THEN COVERING HIM FOR WBZ IN BOSTON FOR FIFTY YEARS. HE WAS REALLY A TREASURE TO BE WITH. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL.

As a kid growing up in Brookline in the 60's Red was the man.Greater than Yawkey.Greater than Adams. He was ours and we knew we could always count on him even if 13,909 didnt show up at the "Gaahden" to watch the Celts play. And Red was far far more than a coach and we knew that as well.In a city divided by race and with a Baseball owner in this town known for his unfriendly racial views even if it meant putting losers out on the field there was Red appealing to "the better angels of our nature" by playing the ones who could play regardless of who they were.

Red-Thank You and God Bless.

Nancy,

I enjoyed meeting you and your husband at your father's house with Coach Thompson, and seeing you at the Lone Sailor Event. I didn't know your father well, but I was truly touched by his kindness and wisdom. I extend my deepest sympathy and prayers to your family.

Sincerely,

COL (R) Edna Cummings
