Arnold Perlmutter of Sarasota, formerly of Wayne, N.J., died Wednesday at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of Joseph and Rose (Sklar) Perlmutter. Services will be at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulfgate Chapel. Internment will be at Palms Robarts Cemetery, Sinai Gardens.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Perlmutter of Sarasota; three sons, Michael (Leslie) of Lower Gwynedd, Pa., Mitchell (Leslie) of Demarest, N.J., and Brett (Mandi) of N. Caldwell, N.J.; four stepchildren, Lisa Baron (Steve) of Marina Del Rey, Calif., Jennifer Humphrey (Bryant) of Boynton Beach, Fred Almond of Freeland, Md., and Leslie Jehle (Frank Cosimo) of Sarasota; 16 grandchildren; and many beloved friends.
Mr. Perlmutter was an intelligent, gentle, kind and generous man who enjoyed a successful career in his many business endeavors.
He was an avid sportsman, who loved the New York Mets. And for 35 years, Arnold could be found at the Wayne Y, where he enjoyed exercising, playing basketball, tennis and squash.
He volunteered at Meals on Wheels and the social action committee at Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne. Arnold was a generous contributor to Camp Veritans in Wayne and he was a member of the Jewish War Veterans.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulf Gate Chapel.
