Age 97, a resident of the Manor House in Batavia, formerly of Attica, NY, passed away on August 18, 2024 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
He was born June 6, 1927 in Akron, NY, son of the late Arthur G. and Margaret C. Dahn Gerhardt. Art was a graduate of Attica High School Class of 1944. After dairy farming for over fifty years, he established Agro Crop Services, a business serving the local farming community.
Upon retirement, Art and his late wife Joann spent twenty-five years in the Lakeland, Florida area where they enjoyed retirement, socializing with friends and playing golf. In 2020, following Joann’s passing, Art moved back to Western New York and his new home at the Manor House in Batavia.
Art was predeceased by his wife of sixty-nine years, Joann Domm Gerhardt.
Surviving are his children, Christine (Luis) Patino of Roswell, Georgia, Scott Gerhardt of Austin, Texas, Julie (Mark) Cole of Leesburg, Alabama, Brett (Gretchen) Gerhardt of Austin, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; his sister, Lillian Merkle of Attica and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Art’s life will take place on Saturday, October 19th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Attica's 10th Hole & Golf Course, 95 Bunnell St., Attica, NY 14011. Private burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Attica. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasant View Cemetery, c/o Abigail Broughton, 2939 Glor Rd., Attica, NY 14011.
