CAPTAIN ARVID LINGAAS

Arvid was a member of our yacht club in Edmonds, Washington. I got to know him during a two week cruise up the Fraser River in 2003 from Vancouver Canada to Harrison Hot Springs. I remember him as a real gentleman. He also knew a little about boats!

I first met Capt Lingaas when he was the First Officer of the MS Starward. Or should I say we met his cabin as we were using it for the voyage. He was on vacation at the time. My mother said, here lives a very cultured man. On his desk he had flower vases place with fresh flowers being put in them by the room steward daily. He had a tremendous talent for telling and finding the humor in real life stories. It's incredible that 13 years have already passed. We miss him just the same.

I'll never forget you!

Captain you were by far the best. I´ll never forget when you visited me in the hospital and reassured me that I would be rejoining the ship once the Dr. gave the all clear. I think of you often. RIP Captain Anthony Pagella

After ten years you are missed and remembered by us all. It still seems strange that you are not here.

I first met Captain Lingaas at NCL's National Sales meeting in Canada. He is a person that I cared to emulate. I will always remember him.

Capt. Lingaas was a great story teller. I have tried emulate that capacity to no avail. For us he went from being a professional that worked for my father to a family friend. We miss him.
