ARWIN BOLIN Obituary

Arwin Miles "Bo" Bolin passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2018, at the age of 88. He had a wonderful life. Bo was born in Greeley, CO, on December 22, 1929, to Rodney and Ruth Bolin. He grew up with his younger brother, Willis, on the family farm in eastern Colorado. Bo attended school in a one room school house through the eighth grade, then moved into town to attend College High School in Greeley, CO. Bo later attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Ag Science. While in the military, Bo met Gerri Ramponi of St. Louis, MO. They married and had four children, Kathy, Gloria, Rod, and Julie. After Gerri's passing, Bo and his children moved to Fresno, CA in 1973, where Bo met and married Loretta Miranda. Their "blended" family included Loretta's children, Mark, Stan, and Cheryl. Bo had extensive experience in agriculture and spent over 20 years working for Elanco Products Company as a agriculture chemical sales manager. He had many fond memories of those years with good friends. Bo's greatest joys in life were his wife Loretta, his family, and beloved dogs, Timmy and Tony. Bo and Loretta traveled all around the world. Their favorite destinations were London, England, and Sun Valley, ID. Bo was an avid fly fisherman and was fortunate to have had the opportunity to fish all over the world. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, Fresno State women's softball games, and raising his hunting dogs. He was a proud docent of 21 years for the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, where his grandchildren loved to visit him. Bo was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Ruth Bolin; and his first wife, Gerri Bolin. He is survived by his loving wife Loretta; children, Kathy and Stan Miranda of London, England, Mark Miranda and wife Kim of Fresno, Gloria Bolin and partner Sharon of Clovis, CA, Rod Bolin and wife Julie of Atlanta, GA, Julie Derenne of Colorado Springs, CO, and Cheryl Phibbs and husband Paul of Escondido, CA; brother, Willis and wife Jan of Arvada, CO; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel in Fresno, CA, on Friday, April 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., followed with a burial at Belmont Memorial Park. Bo and I were colleagues in the Fresno Elanco office from 1976-1981. You will search long, far and be most challenged to find a person who would have all of Bo's positive characteristics -- a heart of gold, compassion, tolerance , insight, willingness to share and an even temper. He could maintain his cool even under the most trying of circumstances. He was cherished and respected by many and always ready to help, sometimes even before you realized help was needed. People like Bo will always be missed they are in short supply.
it is painful when your friends suffer and it is most trying on their family members. Bo's soul is now where it should be and he is at peace. For this we are all grateful.

We were blessed to have Bo in our lives. Bo was the man responsible for hiring me out of Cal Poly SLO, and was my first true mentor. Forty years later I'm still with the company and grateful that Bo saw something in me that was valued. Bo's guidance and friendship will always be cherished. Our prayers are with Loretta and the entire Bolin Family. RIP Bo.
