Aspostolos "Paul" Karakatsanis

1944 - 2016

NEWTON - Apostolos "Paul" Karakatsanis, 71, of Newton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29 at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton.
Paul was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1944, to the late Mathias and Theodora (Shikarides) Karakatsanis, then moved to the United States in the early 1970s. He worked as a cook for 40 years at various locations; his most recent position was at his wife's restaurant, Brenda's Diner, on Spring Street in Newton. Paul was a man with an incredible work ethic who worked hard to give his family a beautiful life.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Brenda Canfield; his daughter, Dora Rodriguez, of Newton; his son, Pascxalis Karakatsanis and his wife, Lisa, of Newton; his grandchildren, Joshua, Damian, Rony, Maria and Pascxalis of Newton; his
sisters, Smaro Karakatsanis and Maria Kousi, of Thessaloniki, Greece; and his nieces and nephews.
Services for Paul will be at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 1447 Sussex Turnpike, Randolph. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
