Bailey was my best friend back in 1957 to 1960. His mother, Thea, was like a 2nd mother to me. His whole family treated me as one of their own.We both lived in Jamaica, Queens, back then. He was a very considerate person. We took different paths in our lives. His was the most fruitful.

I have known Bailey for the last 20 years. An excellent professor, a very kind man and above all a great human being. Bailey was a pillar of social justice not only at UMass but was known nationally. I am proud of what I learned from Bailey over the years and I miss him already.

Dr. Baley Jackson was a great leader in the School of Education, and his contributions to the field of social justice education will have a lasting impact. He was kind and supportive, inspiring graduate students to believe that anything was possible in their future careers, even for those balancing full-time work, family, and evening classes. His leadership and dedication to social justice education helped pave the way for a brighter and more equitable future for all students

I was both a student and staff member at the School of Ed during the time Bailey was teaching and then became Dean. He was one of my absolute favorite professors. He was a kind, patient, generous human being. I loved just having him be present in the building when I worked there. And his social justice work was so important. I send my love and prayers to his family.

We shared so many wonderful times together - whether it was work, family get together, movies, or just long talks. Bailey was a great friend, mentor, teacher, leader, and visionary. My thoughts and love to all his family.
