Barbara's presence at my Ledyard school was one of the highlights of working there. She always had a kind word, useful advice, and a meaningful perspective on life. The students loved getting to work with her. She often indulged me a lengthy visit with her dog Tanner, and even let my husband and me take care of him for a week when they were on a trip. I first met Barbara over thirty years ago when our children took piano lessons from the same teacher. We also both worked in the Norwich Schools and wound up negotiating a new contract together until the wee hours of the morning. Just after midnight , she tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I can't believe I turned 50 sitting in here !"
