HURST, Barbara Brown Mrs. Barbara Brown Hurst, age 81, of Tucker, GA passed away May 7, 2017. Barbara was born in Locust Grove the daughter of the late Kate Adele Pendley Brown and Henry Clifford Brown Sr. She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings, James Brown, Katherine Ernst, Clifford Brown, Julian Brown, Leslie Brown and Bobby Brown. Barbara was a member of Brookhaven Christian Church since 1962 where she served as an Elder and other areas of the church. She graduated from LaGrange College in 1957 and was in the Alpha Phi Beta Sorority, she was the Miss May Court Queen, and President of the Student Council. Barbara loved children and she treasured her time at St. Andrews Preschool. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working in her flower gardens and enjoying her backyard birds as well as her cats "B.W. & Priss". Survivors are her loving husband of 60 years whom has been by her side every day, George D. Hurst Jr. of Tucker; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Donna Hurst of Dacula and Trae Hurst of Dacula; granddaughter, Samantha Hurst of Athens; sister-in-laws, Polly Brown, Jean Brown and Joan Ernst; special nieces that she considered her daughters and nephews. She had two very special lifelong friends, Dottie Pitts Olson and Marie Brown Roberts. The family will receive friends at Brookhaven Christian Church, 4500 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, Ga 30319 on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6:00 8:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at the church on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jennifer Heinz officiating. Inurnment will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 1:00 PM at the Locust Grove Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookhaven Christian Church in Barbara's memory.
