Barbara Ruth Sours Leighner

Leighner Barbara Ruth Sours Leighner, age 85, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016. Barbara was born in Akron, Ohio, grew up in and became lifelong resident of Upper Arlington. Daughter of the late Hal and Olga Sours. She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Sours. Barbara graduated from Upper Arlington class of 1949 and Northwestern University where she was a member and Past President of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was manager of Country Collections in Dublin and belonged to First Community Church where she was a member of Guild X and Couple Circle #46. Barbara was active in many community organizations. She was a member and past President of the Childhood League, member of assisting boards 5 and 6, where she served as President of board 5 and chairman of their antique show. She also belonged to the Children's Hospital Twig #116, and served as a Board Member of the Ohio Historical Society Conestoga and the Franklin Park Conservatory. She was a dog lover, especially West Highland Terriers, and leaves behind Daisy. Barbara was a warm, caring and thoughtful person. She was devoted to her family and greatly valued her lifelong friendships with many. She will be greatly missed by her son, Bob (Kay) Leighner; sister-in-law, Jeanne Sours; other extended family and her dear friends. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. A reception will follow in Brownlee Hall. Private family internment.
