After our son Dan died, my wife Kathy began receiving signs from Dan. These signs always seemed to ease Kathy's grief. I was never so lucky. Yesterday found me on Frankford Ave in the far Northeast of Philly. Returning home to Fox Chase, I decided to use Frankford Ave. - not my usual route home. At about the 9200 block of the Avenue I happened to glance to my left only to see the street sign that reads, BARRY ST, This became a sign to me. A sign more spiritual than demographic. I felt...

Hanna,
I think of Barry and miss him more each time I pass your former home on Church Rd.
A great teacher to his students and colleagues; a great friend to those of us lucky to know and love him; a great roommate who was always there us and a great loss to all.
On this 4th anniversary of Barry’s death, I send my love to you and your family.

Barry was a good leader but his fear hiking skills, especially when we went to PEEC with the 6th grade class left a lasting expression. He was a good guy who is surly missed by all. Rest In Peace My Friend. Buce and Sheila Barsky

I just found out about Barry's passing. I was sad to hear this. He will be missed. I had the pleasure of working with him for many years at Elkins Park School.
My condolences to the entire family.

Just learned of Barry's passing; what a wonderful man, mentor, and mensch--and what a deep loss to the Cheltenham community. We are so saddened to hear and sorry we did not know about the memorial service at EP. Our sincere sympathy to Hanne, Meeks, and Joanna.

...just a little yeast leavens the dough and makes it rise.
In this land of plenty we have so much for which to be thankful. Barry is the one for whom I am most thankful. As the steadfast roommate, a faithful friend and a fellow teacher he was "super." Barry became the yeast in my life in so many ways. Barry's influence made me a more accepting and better person, he helped me rise socially and professionally. I will always remember Brooks with a...

Barry was a true friend to all. He was a visionary. At Glenside, he created a totally independent, prescriptive math program for his 5th graders. Because of his insightful daily prescriptions for his students and thousands of mini-lessions, his Math class always achieved incredible results making years of progress during 5th grade. Barry also loved the environmental/science extravaganza he and his students designed yearly. Months of collaborative, hands-on learning preceded 3 days and 2...
