Not sure what to say?

Barry advised me several years ago regarding a patent I was seeking, and his knowledge and guidance has proven invaluable. I found the NASA notice when looking him up regarding a new project. I can't thank him enough for the input he gave me.

My sincere condolences to his wife and family

Dear Gibbens family,

I just read the notice in the U.Va. magazine and was shocked and deeply saddened. I first met Barry thirty years ago on my first day at Virginia as I walked into Dunglison dormitory. That was my lucky day because Barry proved a great friend at school as he could always offer a calming smile and attitude in the face of the infamous engineering student workload. We talked of Leon Redbone, Pink Floyd and the Ohio swimming scene and always succeeded in putting the...

Dear Gibbens family, I an very truly sorry for passing of Barry. I went to school with Barry and His mom was one of my teachers. We swam together and hung out. My home seem to be the place my friends all hung when we were in high school and college. People even hung there when I was away. My mom and dad treated all my friends like their very own. I remember one night when i was away at school I received a phone call from my mom informing me Barry and his brother Dirk when involved in an...

Dear Gibbens Family:

It was with a heavy heart that I read the notice in this month's Virginia Lawyer that Barry had passed away. Though I had not spoken to Barry since the day we graduated from law school, I often think back fondly on our days studying together in the law library at U of R. I am lucky to be able say that I counted Barry as a friend. Barry was a gentleman of the first order and touched every person he met with his friendship and kindness. God bless your family.

Janice,
I just heard about your loss. I was Barry's secretary at NASA from 1988 until 1993 or beyond. My heart is sickened, for I feel that I basically raised Barry as well as his other co-workers during our time in the Model Engineering Section of AEB. He will be missed more than I can put into words. Barry was loved by all of us but GOD loves him best. If there is ever anything that I can do for you or your family, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Dear Gibbens Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time. I have known Barry for the 25 years that he has been at NASA. He is sadly missed by the NASA family. Barry was a good, decent, and honorable man. His hard work and dedication will never be forgotten. I pray that God's love will comfort you now and help you heal.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. May the memories you hold dear comfort you in the coming days. Barry's great sense of humor will be truly missed.

I am so sorry for your unexpected loss. I pray that you feel the comfort of Gods arms around you & your family in your time of need. Please let me know if I can do anything for you.

Janice, Bradley, and Amy,
Barry was a tremendous person, mentor, and friend. I've always held him "responsible" for my career choice. His guidance and friendship made a huge impact on my life. I'm really going to miss him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
