I knew Barry when we were both summer employees at Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock back in the 70's. We were called shipfitters. It was a hot, tough job building ships out of steel. We got pretty muscular each summer swinging sledgehammers driving big steel wedges to bend thick steel plates into place. As "college boys" we got assigned to do many of the jobs that "Americans won't do". At the end of the day, we looked like we had climbed out of a coal mine. We were covered in soot from the welding torches and sandblasting shot. It was a tough job, but the money was decent. What I remember best was how much fun it was to work with Barry. He had a great sense of humor, and it made the jobs seem easier when he was working with you. Rest in peace my old friend.

As a Woodlake neighbor, I first met Barry and "Paddy" on the walking trail. He was a wonderful, kind and friendly person. Going past his house, I will miss him and our friendly chats. My sincerest
