Not sure what to say?

Although I never met Dr. Thompson personally, I was enormously fortunate to have begun my 46-year teaching career in 1970 during his tenure as assistant superintendent of Waco ISD. He implemented a creative, flexibly scheduled, team-taught, inquiry-based program when I taught at University Junior High, which gave me the opportunity to work with and learn from gifted, highly motivated educators and to interact with students in ways that inspired me to try and develop attitudes, materials, and...

I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing Scott. My thoughts and prayers are with you tonight.

Just read about this. So sorry to have missed services. Dr Thompson was an amazing horseman

Sandra, Karol, Kim, Scott and Bart,
I was so sad I wasn't able to make it to your dad's service. My dad (Ken Wilson) has told me how beautiful and fitting it was for him. You were all such a huge part of our family during our years in Andrews and Waco, and I have so many memories of those wonderful times. I hope your memories of him and knowing how he obviously touched so many lives in such a positive ways helps bring you some peace during this time. You have my deepest sympathy and...

I enjoyed listening to his many stories during his treatments at the clinic. He lived such an interesting life and I'm privileged to have taken care of him for the last 3 years. He will missed by all of us at the Hillsboro Kidney Center. -Renee Gillette

8th grade science class at Andrew Junior High was an experience in learning that I have never forgotten, and Barry was the teacher that set a standard that few others ever came near. We will miss him, but his influence will continue.

Dear Sandra and family,

How sad I am that Barry has left us. Barely a month goes by that something doesn't trigger memories of your wonderful husband who made such an impact on my life when I was 12 in his 8th grade block science and math class in Andrews Junior High. Then getting to work with him while I was in college at Baylor was another expansive experience.

I will be forever grateful for the way he inspired me – and every student who came into his sphere of influence – to...

Condolences from classmate and friend at Tarleton 1956. Dan, I know you will miss Barry, and we will miss him at the Tarleton reunion in October.
God bless to your family !

Mr. Thompson was my science teacher in the 8th grade in Andrews, TX in 1960. One of the finest teachers i ever had. Barry Thompson always comes to my mind when I think about what teachers should be. Thank you, sir.
