Beatrice Gutierrez Obituary

Beatrice Rocha Gutierrez was born on July 17, 1933, in Buda, Texas. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 26, 2024. Beatrice is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Renato Gutierrez; her parents, Jose and Andrea Rocha; and siblings Nick Rocha, Marcel Rocha, and Frances Mendoza.

She is survived by her three daughters, Anna Wirsching (Joe), Elsa Gonzalez (Elias), and Stella Mata (Martin); her seven grandchildren, Monica Flores (JuanCarlos), Andrea Christina Wirsching, Melisa Chavez (Manuel), Ruben Gonzalez (Valerie), Joseph Wirsching III (Sandra), Cecily Stevens (Clay), and Jessica Sifuentes (Iron); and her nine great-grandchildren, Gabriel Chavez, Brianna and Nikko Flores, Cayden and Christian Stevens, Joseph Wirsching IV, and Iron II, Iris and Ivy Sifuentes. She is also survived by her brother, Antonio Rocha (Mary Anne), sisters Maria Emerson, Irene Ozuna (Arturo), and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Beatrice graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. At the age of 55, she proudly earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree from St. Edward's University in 1986. She worked for several years at Art Carved Class Rings, and as an accountant for the State of Texas Attorney General's Office. She then retired to care for the love of her life until his passing. Aside from spending time with her family, she thoroughly enjoyed and shared her creativity with others through sewing and was always dressed to the nines even if she was just going to a doctor's appointment. She adored her great-grandchildren, enjoyed speed walking (blasting past her grandchildren, when they joined her), loved her Houston Astros and her TV shows like The Price is Right, Blue Bloods, and anything on Hallmark.

A devoted Catholic with a faith that never faltered and a heart that always put others first, she faced life's trials with fiery courage and relentless perseverance, leaving an indelible mark on all who were blessed to know her. Fiercely loyal to her family, Beatrice was as resilient as she was selfless, always checking on and caring for the needs of others, even in her final days.

A viewing will be held at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704, on Monday, September 2nd, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. In celebration of Beatrice's life, a Holy Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E 9th St, Austin, TX 78702, on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., which will conclude the services for Beatrice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to make donations to Beatrice's favorite organization, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Beatrice's family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Michael L. Gutierrez, Progressive Home Healthcare, and the nurses from New Century Hospice, and Guillermina Galarza, for their love and care of her, especially these last few years of her long and full life.
