Not sure what to say?

As we approach the anniversary of Bennie’s passing, I am remembering our childhood friendship at LaRose Elementary School in Memphis, as well as our coming of age experiences at Booker T. Washington High School.
Rest on, dear friend,

Fondly remembering my old friend, his gentle spirit and his magnificent tenor voice. Rest In Peace and Love, Bennie.

My condolences to the family of Mr. Jenkins..I was a student of his at Riverview Jr High...I credit him for so much of my learnings..

Mr. Jenkins was an exceptional teacher at Riverview Jr. High. He always spoke words of wisdom. He taught many students about the strategies of a challenging chess game. May God carry and comfort you during this time.

Condolences to the family , Mr. Jenkins was one of my favorite teachers at Riverview Jr. high .

To the Family of Bennie Jenkins

I was a childhood friend of Bennie's at LaRose Elementary School in Memphis, and also a graduate of the BTW class of 1957. Bennie and I were often called upon to perform duets at LaRose, and we became real buddies. Rosetta,I am so grateful that I had an opportunity to meet you at our 50th class reunion in 2007, and to catch up and reminisce with Bennie about the "good old days." As we celebrate his life, we sadly say goodbye to that magnificent tenor...

Remembering Poppy's lively pesonality and sweet spirit will always make me smile. It was a blessing to have known him.

Love, Pamela McKinney

To the family of Bennie Lee Jenkins:
I also was a member of the BTW Class of 1957. So I knew Bennie as an outstanding classmate and an incredibly talented singer. It was a blessing to see him again in 2007 at our 50th high school reunion. May God bless you at this time. May your memories of Bennie sustain you in the days ahead.
Annie Marie (Watkins) Garraway, Ph.D.

I praise God for allowing "Poppy" to cross my path and emptying his wisdom in my life. You are all in our prayers "Ma Mickey". We love you!!! Veronica and family
