Bernadette Costa
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Bernadette Costa, 90, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015.
Bernadette was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Springfield, the daughter of Edward J. and Marie R. VonDeBur Quinn. She married Eugene C. Costa on Oct. 29, 1949, in Springfield; he preceded her in death on July 16, 2013.
Bernadette was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a Samaritan at St. John's Hospital Guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Cecilia Catherine Quinn.
She is survived by her six children: Eugene E. Costa, Michael A. Costa, Martha M. Elafros, Elizabeth A. Kapnick, Edward Q. Costa, and David C. (Sharon) Costa; six grandchildren: Alison M. Bangs, Melissa A. Elafros, Meghan E. Kapnick, and Cecie, Catie and Charlie Costa; one great-grandson, Owen Bangs; and four siblings: Virginia Schullian, Jo. Anne Quinn, John Quinn, and James Quinn.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
