Bernie, We hadn't known each other for very long but in that short time - well I hope you won't be insulted if I share that you were the grandfather/ father I never had. I knew Bernard Cohen for over half a century, and had the privilege of working for him throughout most of those memorable years. I will always cherish his memory and the times we spent together at the lab, his home, on social occasions and abroad. And I will forever be very grateful to him for aiding me in a special hour of need. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Bernie was a hero to me and I could not have had a better boss for over 10 years. He was an amazing person with the best smile and personality of anyone on this planet. I have so many things I could say and they are all just amazing. I went to Moscow with his research team twice and he was universally respected on all ends of the world. What a great man.
