How I cherish those Saturays after Saturdays, after Saturays sitting with Bernie and Ben in their vacant field of dreams, Elk Terminal watching those dreams become reality. Having lost my Dad at an early age Bernie became my father figure, my mentor, my friend. Tough, demanding, stubborn, gentle and giving all at the same time. An extraordinary man. my heatfelt condolences to all of you.

Mr. O taught me more than he ever realized. As a young real estate broker years ago, he had faith in my abilities before I did. I wish I took the time to learn more from this great man. As the saying goes; 'when a senior citizen dies, another library closes.' Thank you for the knowledge you shared with so many of us.

Mr. Obletz epitomized a diminishing era – one characterized by business being done on a handshake, community commitment and involvement, and the mentoring of tomorrow’s leaders. He will be sorely missed but, his legacy will live on in WNY. My deepest condolences to the Obletz family for their loss.

Steve, Tom, Betsy and Doug: On behalf of the entire Hoyt family we send our most sincere condolences on the passing of your dad. Bernie was a great man who I respected immensely and whose advice I sought regularly. I really did not get to know him until after my father died and from that time on Bernie became somewhat of a father figure to me. When I had tough decisions to make as an elected official I would often seek out Bernie's advice and, sometimes, he would seek me out to give me...
