BETHIA WAS MY FRIEND FOR 74 YEARS. A REMARKABLE LADY AND IS MISSED BY ALL HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS, I THINK OF HER OFTEN.

What a whimsical creative writer and inspiring mentor dear Bethia was as she catapulted my move from SPIFFS (Folk Fair) and the American Folks Arts Society events to newspaper reporting at the Evening Independent in the late 70s. I was proud to work alongside her & the other ferocious, yet at times tender, female reporters that commanded a winning and well-respected presence on the journalism scene here for decades. She was a distant cousin on my Caffery side. Sounds like she had some of the strong family traits of political conviction and gumption. Wish I’d known her!

I remember the first time I was at your house and Bethia brought me through every room and told me stories about her antiques. Bob especially loved her; so did I. I plan to keep in touch even if only through Facebook. You are a very special daughter of Bethia.
