Betsy was indeed an arts lover, on and after her time on the School Board. We used to see each other often at art events. She would say, "We see each other at the best places." I miss her smile.

I will always remember Betsy's kindness to me. She was so helpful and encouraging to me with my work with Orchestra Miami. She was instrumental in helping us with our first major education concert at the Arsht Center in 2008, and was always full of advice and suggestions. Please accept my condolences.

My condolences to Mrs. Kaplan's family. Betsy served the students of Dade County with great enthusiasm and was a fierce advocate for keeping the arts in schools.
