Betty Meissner

MEISSNER, BETTY F. (SHIEF), 88, of EPOCH on Blackstone, Providence, and formerly of Wethersfield Commons, Warwick, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012. She was the wife of the late Dr. George F. Meissner. Born in Boston, MA on August 31, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Barnett and Ray (Sax) Shief. She was the sister of the late Mildred Levovsky, Nettie, Leo, and Harold Shief. Betty graduated from Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing in 1942 and was a registered nurse. She is survived by her daughter Jane E. Sharfstein of Providence and two granddaughters, Sarah of San Francisco, CA and Libby of Pawtucket. A graveside service will be held TODAY, June 13th at 2:45 pm at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Temple Beth El, 70 Orchard Ave., Providence, RI 02906. Shiva will be observed at the home of her daughter on Wed. following the burial and 7-9pm, Thurs. 2-4 & 7-9pm, Fri. 2-4pm, and Sun. 2-4 & 7-9pm.
