Betty Turner Obituary

Betty Wright Turner, 88, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, on her mother's birthday. Service: 12:30 p.m. Friday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Betty was born Jan. 30, 1926, on a farm in Cottonwood. She was the youngest of eight children born to Ella Omega Green and Obadiah Allington Wright. Her family moved to Fort Worth when she was 2 years old. Betty graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 1943. Despite the best efforts of a spinster teacher who hit them with a ruler every time she caught them holding hands while walking the halls of Paschal, Betty married her high school sweetheart, Louie Franklin Turner, on Feb. 5, 1944. They were married for 66 years. While traveling abroad for the FDA, Louie was sometimes gone for months at a time, leaving Betty as sole caretaker of their five children. An excellent time manager, Betty prepared a full hot breakfast every day for her children, drove them to three different schools and worked a full-time job, all without complaint. Betty retired in 1986, after 30 years in the petroleum industry, first with Keller & Peterson, and the last 10 years with Cawley, Gillespie & Associates. Betty enjoyed her family more than anything. She was a world traveler, with England and France being favorite destinations. She loved to sing, was an excellent cook and an avid reader, and worked the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink. We would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, especially Earl and John, and Stonegate Nursing Center for their excellent care of our mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie; son, Patrick Andrew Turner; brothers, William, Holton, Orville, Nelson and Decker Wright; sisters, Dorothy Mitchell and Arbozine Temple; and 46 first cousins. Survivors: Daughter, Betty Rene Pacheco and husband, David; daughter, Jackilyn Sue Turner; son, Louie Franklin Turner Jr. and wife, Rhonda; son, Jonathan Wright Turner; grandson, Michael David Pacheco and wife, Crystal; grandson, Patrick Andrew Pacheco and fiancee, Macey Lough; granddaughter, Katy Rene Pacheco; great-granddaughter, Emma Renae Pacheco; great-grandson, Noah Michael Pacheco; brother-in-law, Dr. Jack L. Turner and wife, Barbara; family friend, George Joe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
