Betty Jean Whitaker

Simpsonville - Betty Jean Hill Whitaker, age 88, passed away February 11, 2021. Jean was a resident of Simpsonville, S.C., and a native of Knoxville, TN. She was retired from Knox county Schools. She loved playing the piano, reading her bible, and spending time with her family and friends. Preceded in death by loving husband of 65 years, Thomas J. Whitaker; parents, Jesse and Edith Hill, and brother, Melvin Hill. Survived by son, Thomas Blake Whitaker and wife, Lindsey Whitaker; granddaughters, Grace and Hope Whitaker; grandson, Austin Russell; sister, Carolyn Ridenour; several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers: David Hill, Mark Hill, Dan Hill, John Wilson, Mack Ridenour, Larry Goosie, and Danny Gibson. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Friday, February 19 at Weaver Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet Saturday, February 20 at Edgewood Cemetery 229 Gallaher View Rd., Knoxville at 10:45 am for an 11 am interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences are welcome at www.weaverfuneralservices.com.
