William ”Bill” John Werling, age 87,  died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Erie County Pennsylvania on November 16, 1929, he was the son of the late  Edward Marion and Angeline Caroline Gibson Werling. Bill was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church and was active in the Nursing Home Ministry for more than 20 years. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War on a Landing Ship Tank “LST”, and mine sweeper .After retiring as a Supervisor for a Steel Plant in Cleveland, Ohio Bill went back to work at Food Lion on South Lafayette Street for 11 years.  He enjoyed fishing with his wife and being outdoors. Bill would build model ships and airplanes that he would give away to children.  In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by, his twin brother, Edward Werling, and brother,  Donald Werling;  a sister, Charlene Carrier; and his canine companions, “Katie” and “Princess”.


Bill is survived by his wife 64 years, Doris  Sweezy Werling; two sons, William “ Billy” Werling Jr. and wife Maggie of Cleveland, Ohio, Wesley Craig Werling and wife Patricia of Greenville SC; a sister, Dorothy Maytum and husband Donald of Center City, Florida; five  grandchildren, Jonathan Werling, Joseph Werling, Samantha Werling, Katelyn Werling, and Benjamin Werling; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral service  will  be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Faith Baptist Church with Dr. Barry Goodman and  Rev. Johnny Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park, with Military Honors.  The family will receive friends an hour and a half before the service, from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm in the sanctuary.

It has not been the same at church without Bill and I truly do miss getting to talk about model planes and miss him cracking jokes and just being Bill.REST EASY BROTHER AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD

Bill was always filled with humor and with Doris they toke on my parents in fun and games including winning trophy's, there will always be good memories, of those times, he is with our Savior now and my mom too. I will be praying for you Doris and you will always be in my thoughts.

It was a pleasure getting to know Bill over the last 15 years or so. I had some great times talking with Bill and he always had something funny to say . I very grateful for his friendship and I will cherish the airplane that he gave to my son. I will really miss cutting up with him and all our great times we shared .Our thoughts and prayers go out to Doris and the family.
