Bobby Doxey Obituary

Bobby Joe Doxey also known as "Poppie", 64 peacefully passed away on Dec. 16, 2020, at a local hospital. Bobby was born on May 18, 1956 to William "Billy" and Mary Lois Doxey in Creole, La. He spent the majority of his years residing in Cameron, La. He grew up in a large family of four brothers and one sister, DD Albarado, Mary Palmer, WC Doxey, Davy Doxey, and Ruben Doxey. He was an active member of Wakefield Methodist Church. He was a graduate of South Cameron High School class of 1975 where he played football for the Tarpons, and humbly was awarded Louisiana State Champion Wrestler in 1975.
The following year he married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis (Eakin) Doxey on June 26, 1976. He started his work career at Gulf Crews, and in 1996 he and Phyllis established their family owned company, Southern Screen Printing in Cameron, Louisiana. After Hurricane Rita, they permanently moved their homestead and company to Grand Lake, La., where he lived out the rest of his years. He and his beloved wife shared 44 years of remarkable memories and achievements working hand in hand with one another.
Among their many achievements together, he was most proud of his children and grandchildren. Together, they welcomed three sons, one daughter, and five grandchildren into this world. He was actively involved in all extracurricular activities his children were involved in. He proudly served as Scout Master of Boy Scouts Troop 210, where he was awarded the distinguished service award, The Silver Beaver. He also enjoyed coaching his children in numerous sports, including: football, baseball, and wrestling. He was present at every event his children were involved in. He also served on both Cameron and Grand Lake Water Board for many years. He and his wife are current members of First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles, La.
Bobby had many hobbies and passions. He started his days with a warm cup of black coffee watching his ducks and geese fly in and he finished his day with an ice cold Natural Light, and a sprinkle of corn across the yard to ensure the ducks would be back the next morning. He enjoyed beekeeping and making his very own honey. When he was not manicuring his yard, you could find him manicuring his long fluffy white beard. His favorite activity was entertaining his grandkids with golf cart rides around the yard. He was a simple kind of man, who never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his wisdom, his heart of gold, and his welcoming grin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Phyllis Doxey; his son, William "Adam" (Lindsey) Doxey of Iowa; his daughter, Robyn Doxey (Tory) of Baton Rouge; his son, Brian (Krystal) Doxey of Grand Lake; and his son, Marcus (Carly) Doxey of WestLake; and grandchildren, MeLah and Brooks Doxey, Attikus Trabeaux, Paleigh and Payson Doxey. He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Billy'' and Mary Lois Doxey; his nephew, Alex Doxey; and two sisters-in-law, Bonita Doxey and Lana Eakin.
Visitation service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles beginning at 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held for the immediate family at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at 10 a.m. with interment will be immediately following at the Doxey Cemetery in Grand Chenier. Phyliss, our prayers and thoughts are with you and the family at this most difficult time. Bobbie was such a kind man and always brightened the day when he would call to order supplies. We now have a special angel watching over us. God Bless.

Always greeted with a smile and a hug. “What’s Up Girl?” Beautiful couple, always went the extra mile for their customers. I pray that the Lord give you all strength and peace. Love You All
