Bogue Waller Obituary

Bogue Maultsby Waller was born in Montgomery Alabama on September 21, 1928 and died June 24, 2013 at his home in Montgomery. Maultsby graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and from the University of Alabama with a B.A. in Business and a LL.B. in Law. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

After graduation, Maultsby married Joy Purifoy and then entered the Army. With the Korean War under way, he accepted a commission as a second lieutenant in the Signal Corps and served fifteen months in the 7th Infantry Division in Korea. He then returned to Montgomery to practice law, and was in partnership first with Perry Hooper and later with Jack Crenshaw before becoming a Federal Administrative Law Judge in 1973. He retired in 1988.

Maultsby loved boats, the water, and building furniture and treasures in his shop. He bought a series of boats over his life and for a ten year period lived on his Hatteras in Marsh Harbor in the Bahamas. He had a shop in every home he owned and eventually bought a building just to accommodate his projects. He was known for his kindness and generosity to family and friends and loved to host visitors as he traveled.

Maultsby was predeceased by his parents, Judge Luther H. Waller, Sr. and Janet Maultsby Waller, his brothers William Chambers Waller and Luther Hill Waller, Jr., his former wife Joy Purifoy Waller, his daughter Frances Amelia Waller, and his grandson Christopher Kyser Miree. He is survived by his children, Kathryn W. Miree (Ben), Virginia W. Clark, Louise W. Blanchard (Bill), and Bogue M. Waller, Jr., and grandchildren, Harrison Miree, Sarah Clark, Troy Ann Russell, Calvin Clark, Katie Waller, Tripp Waller, and Kathryn Blanchard.

The family wishes to thank his wonderful caregivers, especially Janice Smith, Charlean Fuller, Nannie Harris, and Baptist Hospice nurse Lori Breeding.

The service will be held at 11:00 am on June 29 at Greenwood Cemetery, 901 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama. The family will receive friends after the service at 2307 Allendale Place. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to a charity of choice.

Your DAd was loved by. many. ...and...especially by me. He loved his family with passion. I was blessed to have known such a warm, intelligent man. Our circle of friends shared many wonderful memories. He was a true southern gentleman.
