I worked with Vaughn at an ortho clinic in Brandon, FL back in 2010. He was a super nice guy and had the best sense of humor. He was such a smart guy as well.
He would always ask me questions about the Army back then because he was contemplating enlisting. When he did enlist, he ended up getting stationed at Ft. Carson, which was where I was stationed when I was enlisted.
I can't believe has passed. I pray for his wife, family and friends as I know he will be missed.

I worked with Vaughn in Brandon, Florida several years ago. His great attitude was infectious. I am very sorry for your loss.

Back in 2007 I met a homeless man with a passion for music. Brandon heard about this and made a CD with the man's favorite music to go along with a CD player and several batteries.
Brandon was an incredible, hilarious, thoughtful, selfless man. Although it has been several years, Brandon was my first love and I'll never forget him. The world could use a million like him - it's heartbreaking that we've lost the only one.

Brandon, ("Doc" to me) will be forever missed. We reminisced together many times over a cigar the experiences we shared in Afghanistan. Because of our lines of work, he our Battalion PA and me the Unit Chaplain, we had to deal with some pretty stressful situations together. Yet, we felt at ease with each other, as we often times worked hand in hand ministering to the wounded and injured. Doc Wurns - you will be missed dear one. The last time I saw you we were laughing together with Darren at your wedding in San Diego - that's how I'll remember you. You are forever a hero, a warrior and above all - a healer. Peace to your dear bride and family. My prayers are for their comfort, mercy and peace. Blessings. Chaplain Hughes

Brandon/Vaughn was one of my close friends out here. We first became friends back at Vanguard in Ocala and have kept in touch over the years. Most recently we went camping up in WY. Had a great time together mountain biking and exploring ghost towns in the mountains. I'm going to miss him and his humor!

I met Casper when he moved into my college apartment. My roommate of exactly 0 days, Rob, had casually said, I have this friend Brandon who we call Casper who needs a place to stay, so I told him he could stay with us for a few weeks. Is that okay?
Of course it was, so without much fanfare there Casper/Brandon appeared - this tall, confidently awkward, rosy cheeked guy who was both annoying and endearing all at the same time. On the first day, I locked myself in my room. I just wasn't sure if I could deal with all this Casper guy energy.
Casper slept on Couchy (the most comfortable couch in the world) and was apparently an early riser like myself, so the next morning when I tiptoed out for breakfast I was met with a wide awake, Hey! He began to ask me questions, telling me jokes, laughing at my sarcasm. He could sense that I was shy and skeptical of him, and made the effort to be calm and sweet - an act of kindness from any 20-year-old guy. He didn't have to, it would have been easy for him to write me off as the weird roommate, but he did and I'm glad.
Over the year I gave Casper a lot of rides to and from places. We'd use that time to talk about life. His childhood, stories about the kids I was nannying, his friends back home, his future, my future, how to save money, his top ten favorite songs, my inability to draw, his ability TO draw, and everything in between. I loved those car rides and having those conversations.
A lot of people will remember Casper as his loud, funny, rambunctious, Chewbacca-sound-making, over-the-top self (who I also adored). But I will remember the act of kindness of a 20-something boy and the friendship we had because of it.

I was privileged to serve alongside Brandon in Afghanistan in 2012. I recall a specific incident where he was personally responsible for saving a man's life through medical intervention. He was an excellent provider and brought out the best in others.
Rest easy, Brandon.

While trying to put the right words together, a quote from Abraham Lincoln came into my mind!
And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
Everyone who knew Brandon knows he filled his years full of life! And his life was full of love!

Brandon was one of my best friends, an amazing performer, a wonderful roommate, and one of the most genuine people I have ever known. He was the champion and biggest defender for all his friends. I will miss him so much. This is so hard. Love you my friend.

So sorry to hear about Brandon. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I have not seen him since he was little but he still was my nephew. May you find comfort in knowing he was a good man.
