It was a great privilege for me to attend the beautiful memorial service yesterday for Brent. My greatest regret is that I hadn't gotten to know Brent better during our time together at GBHS. The testimonies of those who knew him best were stunning and certainly indicative of someone who knew Jesus. Anita, your poise and grace were so impressive while you greeted everyone who stood by waiting to express their sympathies. The tribute that your four beautiful children gave are a wonderful legacy of a great dad and husband. I pray that Jesus will continue to pour out His grace upon you and your family and that you would be comforted by His Holy Spirit in the days ahead.

Anita and family,
I am so sorry for the loss of Brent. Ben and I enjoyed knowing you and Brent the two years we co-taught Sunday school together. Brent was such a level-headed solid man. It's so hard to lose your spouse at a young age. I lost Ben in 2008. He was also 54. The pain seemed insurmountable at first, but the Holy Spirit helped us through those dark hours. I will keep you and your beautiful family in my prayers.

Anita and precious family – My father, Merle Miller, was a cousin to Deon. Always, I heard my mom talk of Gail and Deon Lupton as I grew up in Great Bend. The loss of a husband and father is so difficult at any time. I can see what a joy Brent was to each and every one of you as well as the joy you gave to him. I am so very sorry for your loss. May his memory be for a blessing forever.

Brent always held to the highest standards. He was a credit to our crude oil industry. My son is in a similar position at Citgo today. I was a trader at Unocal for many years. I hope that my son's piers hold him in the same regard as we held Brent. God Bless and comfort you!

Anita and family:

Though it has been many, many years since I last crossed paths with Brent, I was shocked to hear of his passing. My memories of Brent are from when we were all young and looking forward to the promise of the future. I remember working with Brent every day during a summer job at the Great Bend Recreation Commission. We thought we had the best job around getting paid to take care of the ball fields and getting world class suntans in the bargain. Brent was always good to work with. I guess it was his easy going personality and positive attitude. I can remember playing softball with him on the Plating, Inc. team during summers home from KU. We had some good times doing that. Brent was always such a good athlete. I remember him being especially strong in track running hurdles. Beyond that, he just seemed to have the versatility to be successful at any sport he took up. In reading about his life and viewing the pictures posted, it is clear that he was very successful in applying that same versatility to his family and career. I recall my mother consoling me in the death of a loved one by saying, “life is for the living”. Even so, it doesn't make it any easier to press onward in the absence of that loved one. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you press onward, your way lighted by Brent's memory and the example he set.

I am so very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort and peace in your family and friends.

June 24, 2013

Brent embodied so many wonderful qualities of a husband, a Dad, a co-worker, a friend, and most importantly, a man of God. He was a class act who always treated people with dignity and respect, regardless of their walk in life. It is simply through the constructive manner in which he lived his life that he had the greatest impact upon others. Brent took the time to notice the little things that made life special, and in doing so, made others' feel special as well.

Marriage is one of the true gifts in life. Brent's commitment as a husband was about walking in faith, caring and honoring, while loving and accepting unconditionally. His love for Anita mirrored the love that Christ has for the Church in a way that was selfless and sacrificial. Though his time as a father may have been short, he has created a lasting legacy for his precious children.

To the Lupton children: Whenever you have a problem, ask yourself, “What would Dad want me to do?” You will always make the right decision.

Heaven has just been blessed by the presence of Brent Lupton.

Brent prized his family and humbled himself before God and man. As I continue in life, I will find myself looking back to the examples that he set and will strive to imitate them.

It is with a heavy heart that I send this letter.

Though his time as a father may have been too short, he has created a lasting legacy for his precious children. “The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.” Proverbs 20:7

To Brent's children: Whenever you have a problem, ask yourself, “What would Dad want me to do?” You will always make the right decision.

Heaven has just been blessed by the presence of Brent Lupton.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house there are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 4:1-4

Brent prized his family and humbled himself before God and man. As I continue in life, I will find myself looking back to the examples that he set and will strive to imitate them.

PS As we became friends we discovered that our Dads had known each other as fraternity brothers at Fort Hays State. Small world. Knowing him as I did 35 years ago, I'm guessing he left quite a legacy for his loved ones. God bless the Lupton's!

I just can't find the words to say how sorry I am, Anita and family. I am instantly taken back to our days at Eisenhower Elementary....and growing up with such wonderful friends all the way through high school, and all of those memories include you and Brent . My heart aches for your loss, my dear friend. Please know that you and your family will be in my constant prayers, and may God wrap is loving arms around all of you.
