Brett Anderson Obituary

Brett Erik Anderson

Brett Erik Anderson died on Sept. 10, 2025 in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 74, after a long illness.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, Brett will be deeply missed. He was a source of strength and guidance for his family, friends and the many law clients he served over the years.

Brett was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Nov. 19, 1950, to Jerome and Rose (Lee) Anderson. He graduated in 1969 from Edina High School and in 1976 from the University of Vermont, where he met his wife, Frieda.

The couple settled in Elgin, Illinois. Brett worked as an English teacher at Conant High School before graduating from DePaul University College of Law in 1985 and spending more than three decades as an attorney.

He was an avid golfer who always was up for a game of cards or backgammon, enjoyed collecting antiques and took pleasure in good wine, a good book and a night out dancing with Frieda. He had a keen intellect, sly sense of humor and unwavering dedication to family.

Brett is survived by Frieda; sons, Zachary (Amelia), Lars (Megan), and Erik Anderson; grandchildren, Micah, Henry, Evangeline and Isabel Anderson; brother, Scott Anderson and sister, Diane Campbell.

A memorial service to celebrate Brett's life will be held on Nov. 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Emmett's Brewing Company, 128 West Main Street, West Dundee, Illinois 60118.
