CONCORD - Brittany M. Searing, 16, of Canton Circle, died suddenly from complications due to epilepsy on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

She was born in Fort Knox, Ky., the daughter of Debra Muse of Concord, and Ethan Searing of Queensland, Australia. She was a student at Concord High School.

Brittany was a devoted volunteer at the Live and Let Live Farm in Chichester. She was passionate about animal care and helped take care of everything from macaws to blind horses. She aspired to one day have her own animal rescue and sanctuary and also was an avid environmentalist.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her stepmother, Samara Searing, and two half-brothers, Boston and Brady Searing of Queensland, Australia; her maternal grandparents, Bev Muse of Concord, and Richard Muse and his companion, Nancy Davis, of Dover; paternal grandparents, Liz Shafer of Anaheim, Calif., and Harold "Chip" Searing and his wife, Tracy, of Strafford; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, including Elizabeth and Alex Drago of Loudon; and her two cats and two ferrets.

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Waters Funeral Home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.Donations may be made in Brittany's memory to the Live and Let Live Farm, 20 Paradise Lane, Chichester 03258.

Brittany is a beautiful soul. I always found her so inspiring the way she could connect to anyone. I would see her having an engaging conversation with grown men and women and in the next moment interacting just as comfortably with little boys and girls. She had a special connection with so many animals at the farm. Usually the ones that others were afraid of all others or that others were afraid of. The large beaked parrots and one of the most spirited horses, Koda. I would see him...
