Bruce Boomer Obituary
January 4, 2024
Kansas City, Missouri - Bruce Alan Boomer, 70, of Prairie Village passed away January 4, 2024 after a sudden but mighty two-month battle with cancer. Bruce is survived by his wife Margaret Boomer (née Knowles), son Ross Boomer, daughter Karen Clarke, grandchildren Henry and Daisy Clarke, sons-in-law Felipe Lenz and Charles Clarke, and sister Lisa Burnell. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents John and Shirley Boomer. A celebration of Bruce's life will take place at the Village Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 19 at 3pm. Bruce was my first supervisor. He was a great mentor and leader. I worked with him at MRI in the 90´s. My sympathies and condolences to the family.

Bruce was a great manager and leader in our hazardous waste incineration work at MRI for several years. He was a genuinely very likable and kind person to interact with, and will be surely missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I met Bruce in 1986 at MRI. He always had suggestions for how I could meld into the MRI culture or address technical or project management issues. We and a few others would get together for lunch and Bruce had a way of keeping conversations topical, environmentally oriented, and purposeful. As a newcomer to MRI and the midwest, I really appreciated his advice.

Bruce was my first group leader when I was a junior engineer, and he was a great mentor as well. He was a very kind, gentle spirit who loved the outdoors, nature, and had great taste in music. I send my deepest sympathies to the family. He will be missed.
