Bruce Matthews Obituary
Lakewood - Bruce Owen Matthews, 80, of Lakewood passed away on October 21, 2020. He was the son of Harvey ("Jack") Matthews and Mildred ("Billie") Matthews. He graduated from Lakewood High School, Villanova University with a Bachelors of Science in Economics, and Rutgers Law School with a Juris Doctorate.
Well-known and respected attorney in law in Ocean County for over 50 years, he primarily focused on the fields of personal injury and workmen's compensation matters.
He was a member of the Ocean County Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
He was a member of the Lakewood High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
'Whiskey" Matthews loved music, good food, people and sporting events, August at Saratoga, some successful days at Monmouth Park, Summer good times, the Ocean, Beacon Manor and "The Bluffs", and the quintessential "Jersey Shore Boy".

Bruce was my Lawyer and my friend. My parents went to school with him. When my dad passed away in 1997, Bruce was there for me. He was amazing person . I love him so much and he will be greatly miss. R I P

I am very hurt because Bruce was the most loving and caring person that I knew. Bruce was my Lawyer for 30 years and he went to school with my parents. I am going to miss him so much. R I P my friend

I’m saddened to read of Bruce’s passing. He was just a nice man that I was always happy to bump into and talk. I will miss the many afternoons when we studied together in Oceanport, Hialeah, Fl or upstate New York. RIP my friend and I hope all the close races and cases go your way.
