He was an honorable sailor in our Navy. I worked with him at Sixth Fleet in Naples, Italy. I am shocked to hear of his passing. But he was wonderful to know in our Navy service. Fair winds and following seas, shipmate! My love and prayers to the family.

It is fitting that we met Byron in Naples because it was a special place, filled with special people doing special things. And he was the most special of all. Everyone below so eloquently expressed that so anything I say would be redundant. In the crazy place that was Naples and the Staff, Byron helped keep it balanced.
