CARL WALKER BEWIG

The last time I saw Carl was at our Highfield Reunion in Falmouth about 10 years ago. He was just the same as always - big smiles, big laughs, big hugs for everyone! Carl was such a wonderfully kind and enthusiastic man. There was always a song in his heart. We had Oberlin (my alma mater too) and Andover (Abbot Academy was my high school alma mater) in common and we met on both of those campuses over the years - enjoying catching up and sharing news of family and mutual friends. Wendy, I was so saddened to read the news of your father's passing. His booming voice was just as big as his well of kindness. I feel so very fortunate to have known him as both my college counselor and as my castmate in "the theatah." I have wonderful memories of him and wish you and your family solace at this time. We send our condolences to Carl's family members. We had great respect for Carl and will be forever grateful for his assistance in helping us find the perfect college for our daughter. He will be missed by many!

Carl was an incredible mentor for me in the world of college admissions. Larger than life, smart and deeply caring, Carl always put students first. Sending sympathy and peace to all who knew and loved him.

How fortunate we were, those of us who had him as a history teacher at University City (Mo.) High School many decades ago when he was starting out.
