Paula, so sorry to hear this. Carl was one of my first instructors at USC in 1967 and we had remained friends. He was an excellent teacher and a good guy.

Dear Paula - I am just now seeing this notice of your dear Carl's passing and being laid to rest today. During a trip to Croatia for the past two weeks, you came to mind several times as I remembered our many conversations about your love of traveling and your many adventures. You were such a wonderful help to me and such a joy to work with as a volunteer in the Hispanic Ministry at St. Peter's. Please know that both you and Carl are in my prayers. Dearest Paula, I am overwhelmed by your and our loss. I know innumerable friends have offered condolences. Sorry, mine are late, but medical issues slowed me down. On learning the sad news I felt like I was hearing Paul Bunyan had passed. It seemed impossible for this giant of a man in all respects. Consider this note a great big hug! Love.

Paula, Thank you and Carl for making Shasta, my yellow lab, a home and taking such good care of her for the rest of her days. I know how much love there was between you three. You made her life heaven on earth. It broke my heart to give her up but I knew that she was in the best hands. She and Carl loved their strolls through your neighborhood saying "Hello" to all of the friends along the way. Paula, I am so very sorry for the pain of losing your beloved Carl. My heart goes out to you in love and support as you begin to adjust to a new way of living, without the one you "love the most". I fully relate to the trauma you are experiencing, and send loving thoughts and positive vibes your way. I appreciate and celebrate Carl's life and yours.....both are examples of lives well lived.
